Provision of a professional development program for club executives and PANSW to improve their leadership skills

Components

Webinars, bi-weekly blog posts, two-day conference, once a month report to club presidents, exploration of online learning options

First year initiatives (2024)

  • Determine mechanism for possible topic requests to be provided to the manager
  • webinars
    • find a volunteer who can oversee this portion of the professional learning
    • determine a budget for webinars keeping cost per webinar low or free
    • decide on the two webinar programs for 2024
    • investigate presenters who can provide handouts and/or the rights to the webinar video material
    • develop marketing and registration
    • create the yearly webinar program for 2025 and 2026;
    • negotiate presenters who can create a 40-minute presentation focussed on Not-for-profit small organisations/pickleball clubs and their needs around the topic
    • determine the advertising/marketing program
    • create a place in the Club Presidents’ folder for handouts and copies of the webinars
  • set-up the blog
    • find the manager/editor and start publishing in March or April 2024
    • determine the software to be used and acquire it
    • seek contributions from committee members
  • two-day conference
    • determine the number of registrations expected with attendees from other states included
    • conference venue requires a main room, breakout rooms, restaurant and accommodation with sound and presentation equipment, WIFI also
    • investigate a possible program for a two-day conference in 2025 with
      • at least two sessions where there are a choice of topics offered
      • Inclusion of one of the forums in this conference with plenty of time for sharing ideas
    • determine what we should pay presenters in addition to travel, accommodation and meals
    • find high quality expert presenters
    • propose possible dates and budget
    • book conference venue
    • determine registration costs and advertising
    • investigate possible investors/sponsors
  • monthly reports
    • Leadership monthly newsletter/report for anyone who subscribes
    • Club presidents
      • ensure they are filed on the Club Presidents’ drive
      • have an index created of the past three years of reports that moves forward
  • online learning courses
    • create a list of links to online courses already available on the internet which would relate to improving leadership skills for members
      • short courses (under four months) which could provide certification
      • longer accredited courses
    • create online courses specific to pickleball NFP
      • could be video based
      • could use a Leadership Management system

Financial implications: depends on the amount of investment made through donations, grants etc.
