Get Started Playing Pickleball

New to pickleball? If it is your first time trying pickleball please check with your chosen club or venue to see if they run a beginner session before attending.
All of NSW's pickleball venues are displayed on a national map on the Pickleball Australia web site.
Places To Play
When you find a venue near you, contact the venue host directly to confirm the session and your level of play (beginner, experienced or advanced). You must book a session before you attend. Each venue has its own booking system so check to see if they have their own website for booking or if they use an app like Open Sports which players book and pay through before attending.
Some venues use our Meetup group for booking into their pickleball sessions. Meetup is FREE to join and we do not use Meetup to take any fees. Payment for pickleball sessions booked on Meetup can be made at the venue when you arrive or beforehand online, please check the details. There is an option on Meetup to pay for a higher level of membership called Meetup Pro. Paying for Meetup Pro is not necessary for playing pickleball in NSW and we prefer you do not join Meetup Pro. If for some reason you choose to upgrade your Meetup membership to Meetup Pro please be aware that the ability to jump our waitlists will not be permitted at any of our venues. If you have jumped the waitlist, attendees will be manually adjusted for fairness. To avoid this problem you can make an additional FREE Meetup account to register for our pickleball sessions in NSW.
Once you are a member of the Pickleball NSW Meetup Group you will see all of the scheduled pickleball sessions. You must RSVP to reserve your spot before attending a venue. If you book a session and can no longer attend please ensure you change your RSVP to not going. This will allow someone on the waitlist to take your spot. Before attending a pickleball session make sure you read the details to obtain all the information for your chosen venue. Bring water and wear shoes suitable for on court play.
Pickleball is played with a paddle and a wiffle ball. Venues may loan paddles and balls for free or have them available for hire, check if you need to bring your own. Paddles are available for sale online with several local suppliers offering free trials. Basic paddles cost about $50.
Good luck, we hope you enjoy trying pickleball!
